I think tasting delicious sake is on the wishlist for many tourists visiting Japan. You can make that wish come true in Kinomoto, the site of its fermentation.
We have two historical sake breweries in the town. Yamaji is the fifth oldest brewery, which has been around for about 500 years.
There are various types of sake, such as Daiginjyo, Nigori, etc. The popular series is hokkoku-kaido, which is named by that place.
I recommend trying ‘KUWASAKE’, a herbal liquor made from mulberry leaves that no other brewery in Japan produces. You’ll also enjoy chatting with Yuko-san, the brewery master who invented the Kuwasake Mojito. Her welcoming vibes are what make the shop so appealing.
