If you’re visiting Kinomoto(Nagahama,Shiga), you can’t miss a trip to Igawaya, our beloved local confectionery shop. On my recent visit to see my grandmother, I decided to pick up some treats from this charming store. Igawaya is known for offering delicious traditional Japanese sweets at great prices.

One of our favorites is the sasa mochi (bamboo leaf rice cakes). The subtly salted red bean paste inside is simply divine, and my wife can’t get enough of it. Each bite brings a moment of pure bliss.

But that’s not all! Right now, they also have kuzu bar, a refreshing ice cream made with kudzu starch. It’s the perfect treat for the warmer months. I was so tempted to buy one, but my wife gently reminded me to save some for next time.

Looks like I’ll have to plan a secret visit back to Igawaya soon!
